Electrical/Engineering Technician

OceanGate, Inc. has an immediate opening for an Electrical/Engineering Technician to help manage our expanding workload. Our company’s focus is deep sea exploration and discovery.

The successful candidate will be self-driven, flexible, and goal oriented with an ability to manage and execute complex/detailed projects with limited oversight. We seek individuals who have a positive attitude and like working in a small, close-knit team environment.

  • Experience or ability to learn marine electrical systems.
  • Build, Test, maintain, and repair electrical/electronic equipment on submersible systems and ancillary equipment to ensure operational readiness – while complying with all technical requirements.
  • Creation of wiring diagrams, schematics, and test reports.
  • Knowledge of computer software, Windows and Linux.
  • Knowledge of marine communication systems.
  • Knowledge of sonar systems.
  • Experience with electronic test equipment, DVMs, Oscilloscopes, etc.
  • Experience with a variety of sensors, acoustic, strain, pressure, gas.
  • Carry out general team duties, as required by the operations manager.
  • Comply with Health, Safety and Environmental Policies, Standards, and Procedures.
  • Maintain clean hygiene and professional work attitude. Be timely and reliable.
Job “Must Have”
  • Experience/working knowledge of electrical systems, electronics, hydraulics, oxygen and pneumatics
  • Undergraduate or vocational/tech degree in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, robotics or systems engineering
  • Organized with the ability to adapt quickly to changing needs and priorities
  • Good interpersonal and leadership skills
  • Willing and able to work within a small entrepreneurial environment
  • Current U.S. Citizenship
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Ability to work autonomously with limited daily supervision
  • Mechanically inclined with proven ability to handle and work with a variety of different tools and shop equipment
  • Ability to work in confined spaces and fit through 21” diameter hatch opening
  • Positive attitude, energetic with good sense of humor
  • Professional, dependable, and detail-oriented
  • Organized with the ability to adapt quickly to changing needs and priorities
  • Covid-19 Vaccination up to date
  • Basic Seamanship and Navigational experience
  • TWIC Card
  • Willingness to Travel when necessary
