Geoffrey T. Barker is the COO and Co-founder of RPX Corp., a provider of patent risk solutions. Preceding his work at RPX, Mr. Barker was Vice President, Licensing at Intellectual Ventures – a global leader in invention support and protection – where he shared responsibility for the development and licensing strategy of the company’s software portfolio. Previously, Mr. Barker served as Founder, Chairman and CEO of Vigilos, Inc., which provides a platform for controlling and managing the physical security systems of large enterprises. He was also Co-founder and Co-CEO of The Cobalt Group, and held positions in trading, research and investment banking with Kidder, Peabody & Company, Salomon Brothers Inc., and Piper Jaffray Inc. Mr. Barker holds an MBA from Columbia University and a BA in Economics from Tufts University.
Lee Thompson is the Co-founder of BlueView Technologies – an innovator providing groundbreaking underwater vision and measurement systems to the maritime community – where he has led the company as CEO through rapid growth, delivering over 500 commercial products and making the Inc. 5000 list two years in a row. Dr. Thompson has secured and managed numerous commercial funding rounds, as well as R&D grants, and he has advanced technologies leading to multiple product developments in the fields of Navy systems, medical ultrasound, consumer products, and marine electronics.
Rear Admiral John Weldon Lockwood, president of Lockwood Associates, specializes in maritime industry-related marketing and business development, government and legislative affairs, and homeland security consulting. Prior to launching Lockwood Associates, Rear Adm. Lockwood served with the US Coast Guard in commands across the globe. In 1987, he returned afloat as the first Commodore of the Caribbean Squadron, the largest joint Coast Guard-Navy air and surface force assembled since World War II. His assignments ashore included command of all Coast Guard units on eastern Long Island, liaison officer to the Commander in Chief of the Navy’s Atlantic Fleet in Norfolk, and political officer at the US Mission to the United Nations in both New York and Geneva, Switzerland. While at USUN, he was a member of the US Delegation to the Third UN Conference on the Law of the Sea, and was Executive Assistant to the US Ambassador for Law of the Sea, Elliot Richardson. Currently, Rear Adm. Lockwood represents Vigor Shipyards on the Board of Directors of the Seattle Marine Business Coalition, the Port of Seattle’s Industry Working Group, the Board of Directors of the Marine Exchange of Puget Sound, and the Coast Guard Puget Sound Area Maritime Security Committee. He is a former officer and board member of the Propeller Club of Seattle. He was the founding president of the Lake Washington Council of the Navy League of the United States, as well as a National Director and President of the Northwest Coastal Area of the Navy League. He holds a current secret security clearance.Rear Adm. Lockwood is a graduate of Hofstra University, the National Defense University’s Joint Forces Staff College, and the Industrial College of the Armed Forces.
Jim Snyder retired from Kennedy Associates Real Estate Counsel, LP as of December 31, 2007. He was a founding principal and had served as its President and Chief Executive Officer continuously since 1978. Mr. Snyder was responsible for managing the strategic direction of the company and, as Chief Executive, was ultimately responsible for the implementation of investment strategy for all funds and separate accounts.
Mr. Snyder holds a Juris Doctorate degree from the University of Texas School of Law and a BS degree from the University of Colorado; he is a member of the Texas Bar Association. In addition, he is a co-founder and charter member of the Pension Real Estate Association (PREA), an active member of the Urban Land Institute (ULI), a past member of the Real Estate Roundtable, and a member (as well as past Chairman) of the National Associate of Real Estate Investment Managers (NAREIM).
He was the co-founder of both the NewTower Trust Company and the Multi-Employer Property Trust (MEPT), a $5 billion commingled open-ended real estate fund. NewTower Trust Company, a Maryland chartered trust company, serves as trustee for MEPT.
Mr. Snyder has served on corporate and charitable boards, including NewTower Trust Company Board of Directors, Kennedy Associates Real Estate Counsel, LP, The Highlands, Inc., Seattle Children’s Home Board of Trustees, Health Resources Northwest (HRN) Board of Trustees (NW Hospital), Northwest Hospital Foundation Board of Directors, University of Washington/Northwest Hospital Board and Runstad Center for Real Estate Studies Advisory Board, University of Washington.
Mike Furlotti is a software consultant focusing on portfolio risk management and quantitative trading systems. He began his career as an electrical engineer developing a variety of analog devices such as particle detectors, optoelectronic transceivers for telecommunications networks, and antennas and radios for mobile devices. Mike holds an BS in Electrical Engineering, an MS in Physics from Washington University, and is a CFA® charterholder.
